Purina Animal Nutrition introduces a reformulation of AMPLI-Calf® Grower feed, the dairy heifer feed specifically formulated to meet the nutritional and rumen development needs of dairy heifer calves age 12 to 24 weeks.

Research shows that the reformulated AMPLI-Calf® Grower feed can further improve weight gains and feed efficiency when compared to the previous formula of AMPLI-Calf® Grower feed.[1]

Calves fed the improved AMPLI-Calf® Grower feed had superior body weight gain and efficiency to calves fed current AMPLI-Calf® Grower feed formulations. Additionally, feeding the improved AMPLI-Calf® Grower feed showed that you could reduce daily feeding rates by up to 20 percent (8 versus 10 pounds) while maintaining optimal weight gains. [2]

"AMPLI-Calf® Grower continues to be an exciting new feed category for dairy producers," says Dr. Dari Brown, director livestock young animal marketing with Purina Animal Nutrition. "AMPLI-Calf® Grower provides dairy producers with a feeding solution that focuses on diet transition and supporting immunity, a key in the battle to fight post-weaning slump."

Research from the Ohio State University and the Purina Animal Nutrition Center continue to show that it may be possible to skip the growth slump, typically seen post-weaning with a feeding program that focuses on diet transition, supporting immunity and rumen development.

"Anecdotally from the field, farms that have implemented AMPLI-Calf® Grower feed into their feeding program confirm they are able to minimize the growth slump," says Brown.

When combined with the proven success of the original AMPLI-Calf® Grower feed formula, this new research shows AMPLI-Calf® Grower feed takes post-weaning calf growth, efficiency and rumen development to a new level of performance.

Use AMPLI-Calf® Grower feed in tandem with industry leading AMPLI-Calf® Starter feeds available through Purina Animal Nutrition. AMPLI-Calf® Grower feed will be available starting October 28, 2013.
