DFA Powder Plant in Kansas Sustains Fire Damage
A dry milk powder processing plant owned and operated by Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) in Garden City, Kan., sustained close to $1 million in damages due to a fire that erupted last Wednesday.
According to a report in The Garden City Telegram, Garden City fire fighters battled the blaze for more than four hours. Thirty-four people were safely evacuated from the building and none were hurt.
DFA confirmed the fire in a cryptic statement, saying an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway and that no further details are available at this time.
The damage estimate, noted above, was made by Garden City Fire Chief Allen Shelton.
