Dairy extension tour in central Minnesota

Producers and industry are invited to attend the I-29 Moo University, Dairy Extension Tour in Central Minnesota Oct. 26, 2016.

"This tour highlights operations with unique business approaches while providing an opportunity to discuss those changes with owners and managers.

Additionally, we will examine the planning that went into the growth of these dairy businesses," explained

Tracey Erickson

SDSU Extension Dairy Field Specialist.

The two tour stops will include Riverview Farms, LLP milking 10,000 cows and employing 70 people at the Morris, MN farm and Readhead Creamery, LLC which does on farm processing of cheese at Brooten, MN.

"Additionally, we will have a couple of short presentations at noon lunch pertaining to market outlook and research regarding the U of M conventional and organic dairy herds," according to Erickson.

Registration is due October 14, 2016. The fee is $75 per person. After Oct. 14 the fee is $85. A special $35 student and media registration fee is available, which also increases after Oct. 14th to $45. To register visit the iGrow
