Nomination Deadline Extended for Innovative Dairy Producer of the Year Award
There’s still time to nominate someone for the annual award that recognizes progressive dairy producers.
Know a dairy producer who is achieving efficiency on the farm through innovative management practices, production efficiency technologies and/or marketing approaches? Whose farm is positioning itself to meet future economic and business challenges? Who demonstrates leadership to his or her peers?
Nominations are now being accepted for the Innovative Dairy Farmer of the Year, an annual award co-sponsored by the International Dairy Foods Association and Dairy Today magazine to recognize progressive dairy producers.
The deadline for nominations has been extended to Sept. 23, 2013, and there is no entry fee. Complete award criteria and a nomination form are available here.
The winner will be honored at the 2014 Dairy Forum, Jan. 26-29 at the JW Marriott Desert Springs in Palm Desert, Calif.
2013 Winner
McCarty Family Farms of Rexford, Kan., was named the 2013 Innovative Dairy Farmer of the Year during an awards ceremony at at IDFA's Dairy Forum in Orlando, Fla. McCarty Family Farms earned two nominations, one from Kansas Secretary of Agriculture Dale Rodman and another from Michael Neuwirth, senior director of public relations for The Dannon Company, Inc.
Ken and Mike McCarty, two of four brothers who own the family farms with their parents, accepted the award along with Joe Gillespie, McCarty Family Farms chief operations officer, and David Lainchbury, vice president of sourcing and supplier development for Dannon.
The award honors active U.S. dairy farms that are improving on-farm efficiency through progressive management practices, production technologies and/or marketing approaches. Winners are selected based on current methods as well as their positioning to meet future economic and business challenges.
