Wisconsin Farm Awarded $4.5 Million For Stray Voltage
Paul and Lyn Halderson, Galesville, Wis., have been awarded $4.5 million in a stray voltage case on their dairy farm, reports the Minneapolis StarTribune.
The Haldersons milk 1,000 cows, and are asking for triple damages, which could balloon their award from Northern States Power (NSP) to $13.5 million. The Haldersons alleged that NSP failed to correct stray voltage on their farm, resulting in lowered milk production and other issues. The judgment attempts to recover lost profits from 2004 to 2011.
The couple had an independent electrical contractor diagnose the electrical problem, and installed equipment which mitigated the problem.
