Pennsylvania: Third-Generation Dairy Farm Receives SBA Loan
Harrisburg: SEDA Council of Governments, The State of Pennsylvania has issued the following press release:
The Small Business Administration (SBA) has provided financing in the amount of $725,735 for the expansion of a dairy operation in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The recipient is the Garman Partnership, owners of Creekside Dairy, which has now been in the Garman family for three generations.
The expansion included a new facility with four robotic milking units. The total cost was $2,073,529, which included financing from Mifflintown National Bank and owner equity. The Garmans also purchased additional livestock with funds provided through the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Creekside Dairy is an 1,100 acre operation, including a variety ofcrops in addition to the dairyfarm. The SBA 504 loan for the expansion project was approved by the SEDA-COG Local Development Corporation before submission to SBA for final action.
