Kubota Hay Tools 2.0 Preface Big Tractor Intro
Kubota Tractor Corporation will introduce up to 25 new products for the 2015 season, positioning the company to offer a full line of hay tools.
"It has been said that we are going to be coming with a high-horsepower tractor," says David Palmer, senior product manager for hay tools and implements. "With that, we wanted to start our implement sector and the grass division because we’re so focused and so based around the beef and the dairy type of operations with our tractors, this just makes a natural to bleed into that."
The company displayed its new disc mowers, rotary tedder and rotary rake at the 2014 National Farm Machinery Show. Those products mark Phase 1 of Kubota’s entry into the hay-tool market, Palmer explains.
"The Phase 2 side of it is really where it’s going to get exciting because it’s going to put us as a full-line supplier to our dealers," Palmer notes. "There’s somewhere between 23 and 25 new products that we’re going to be coming with. We’re going to expand our mower range, we’re going to expand our tedder range, we’re going to expand our rake range, and we’re going to be coming with balers and wrappers."
New products will include mower conditioners, a silage baler and a wrapper, he says. Supporting the company’s expansion into implements is its ownership of Kverneland Group. That acquisition happened in May 2012.
"Kverneland is one of western Europe’s largest manufacturers of farm implements, building a full range of implements all through the hay sector, tillage and seeding sector, and spraying sector," Palmer says. "At the same time, Kubota’s focus was to move into the implement division in the U.S. market. They wanted to expand into the ag sector and high horsepower."
Phase 2 of Kubota’s hay tools will be announced this summer to regional sales managers and this fall to dealers.
